What are the cable requirements for EV charging modes?

Date:2024/3/7 7:08:01

New energy charging generally has three ways, portable charging, home-style charging and public charging piles, different charging methods are suitable for different scenarios and charging needs. But no matter which charging mode, the pursuit of charging reliability is the top priority. Electric vehicle charging cables are used to connect electric vehicle charging devices with the charging infrastructure, thereby transmitting power to the electric vehicle, and are equipped with a certain number of signal lines, control lines, power supply auxiliary lines, etc. to ensure that the entire charging process is accurately controlled and operated in a safe and error-free manner. Charging cables are generally used in charging stations, parking lots, hotels, neighborhoods, garages and other areas, and portable charging cables can be placed in the car. Charging cable as an important carrier of power transmission, for different charging modes need to choose the appropriate cable to better ensure the efficiency and safety of charging.

Portable charging and home charging generally use alternating current (AC), which is slower to charge, while the majority of public charging piles use direct current (DC), which focuses on the efficiency of charging. As home chargers are usually installed and used by individuals, they have higher safety requirements. Therefore, the cables used in home charging piles undergo strict safety certification and are waterproof, high temperature resistant and fireproof. In addition, the cable length of home chargers is generally longer to accommodate different parking locations. Cables used in public charging piles, on the other hand, require greater durability and stability. Because public charging piles are used more frequently, the cables need to withstand more plugging and unplugging and the influence of the external environment. Therefore, the cables used in public charging piles are made of more wear-resistant, pressure-resistant and corrosion-resistant materials to ensure a long service life and stable charging effect.

OMG' has been developing in the field of automotive charging cables for many years, putting customers' needs and experience in the first place, and has been committed to providing new energy charging application technology solutions to meet the practical applications.OMG' charging cables are soft and feel good, with a bending radius of less than 5D; they are resistant to oil, acid and alkali, water, abrasion, tensile, and crushing. Resistant to cracking, UV, stable color; good flame retardant performance; bending resistance of more than 50,000 times; all materials comply with RoHS 2.0 & REACH environmental standards. And we focus on industry certification, in addition to the Chinese standard also meet the international standards of Europe, America, Japan and other international standards, to serve the global electric vehicle charging market.
