TPU is characterized by high strength and good wear resistance, which are not replaceable by other TPE materials. The wear resistance and strength properties of TPU are much better than TPE, but the feel is not as good as TPE. At present, the softest hardness of TPU is about 55A.

The main characteristics of TPU are: wide range of hardness, and with the increase of hardness, its products still maintain good elasticity and wear resistance, high mechanical strength, outstanding cold resistance, good processing performance, oil resistance, water resistance, mold resistance, recycling Good sex. TPE has a greater loss of elasticity than TPU at high hardness.

TPE English name Thermoplastic Elastomer, which means thermoplastic elastomer, is a special functional material with plastic plasticity and rubber elasticity. Thermoplastic elastomer TPE has the characteristics of high elasticity, high strength and high resilience of rubber, and can be injection-processed. It has environmental protection, non-toxic safety, wide hardness range, excellent colorability, soft touch, weather resistance and fatigue resistance. And temperature resistance, can be recycled to reduce costs.

With the increasing awareness of environmental protection, the environmental protection regulations of the EU RoSH standard and REACH regulations have been gradually implemented in the electronic and electrical fields. In many cases, it is necessary to use thermoplastic flame-retardant and safely clean wire and cable, and plastic TPE halogen-free flame retardant cable materials with rubber properties have become the focus of research and development.

The SEBS-based TPE material is improved in flame retardancy by adding a large amount of inorganic flame retardant, and is prone to low strength, easy precipitation, poor resilience, poor weather resistance and fatigue resistance, and dripping, smog, etc. phenomenon. The reduction of these comprehensive properties affects the service life and operational safety of the product, and limits the application of low-smoke halogen-free flame-retardant TPE materials in the field of electronic and electrical connection lines, especially for new energy charging pile cables.

At present, most of the insulation materials for automotive wiring harnesses of 105 ° C and below are made of PVC. PVC materials for domestic automotive wiring harnesses often have disadvantages such as poor extrusion surface and poor low temperature performance. In view of this, combined with the special environment used by automotive wiring harnesses (such as small space, poor heat dissipation, frequent friction, etc.) and special requirements (thin wall, high speed extrusion, etc.) and cost control requirements, research on PVC materials for automotive wiring harnesses.
